I have written a good quarter of my diploma thesis in the room in the Philosophenturm from which this was shot. Nice view, eh?
In Autumn, when the sun sets an enormous flock of crows is circling the upper stories. The noise the make is awesome.
Once i had a f*ing 3GHz netburst processor. Before i got a cheap water cooler, i made a crappy duct from cardboard and scotch tape (tesafilm in germnay, better than scotch tape, but crap anyway).
A really old 'VW Bus', first generation. Really nice, especially the parted front window, its rare these days.
Summer 2006, or maybe 2007, there was a very noisy demo/party/thingy going on near the old Speicherstadt (they call it 'Hafencity' now, but thats because they are assholes). It was very hot and one of the canals was nearly dry for some reason. A bit of Armageddon in the sunshine.
A furry VW Käfer. People are more weird than it seems possible. Must be quite comfy in the Winter (which is, as we know, comming).
Some kind of rail track cleaning machine. It was pitch black, and the machine had a giant corona of sparks and smoke. Very impressing, and a bit spooky too.
I treat my home server, automatisation, and general entertainment electronics setup in the same way sane people treat their 'project car'. Thats why it has a crazy wire loom and a workshop light.
I got the light from my father, Its about as old as i am. The cable is a giant resistor (intentionally) and get noticiably warm...
This was the fountain at the uni hamburg campus, about 2008-ish i guess. They hat these ponton like boxes with green stuff in, and ducks where swimming everywhere.
Why do they build digicams that measure the amount of light over a certain period of time? If they would measure the amount of time needed to get a certain amount of light, they could make sensors with a ridiculous high dynamic range. And by giving the least amount of time to measure this given amount of light one can give a good value to scale the sensitivity of a sensor.
Firework somewhere at the alster, view from this weird steppy thing at the campus, looking at the audimax.
My Server, 2009 or so. Looks just the same as 2006 and 2011. Really a trusty fellow.
Oh, yes, this umbra colored stuff around the PSU is really cardboard. In service since 2007.
Taken by a Sony Mavica MVC-FD83. On Diskette. Srsly. Thats a digicam which uses floppy discs as storage. So cute!
The Jungle of northern hamburg. There may be Dragons. Well, probably not, but one might expect a party of $fantasycritters comming out of the green.
Just some fotos. Some have a Story.
